Association of Woodturners Appoints John Kelsey as New Editor of Woodturning FUNdamentalst








(Saint Paul, February 21, 2018)-The American Association of Woodturners (AAW) is happy to announce that its Board of Administrators has rededicated Woodturning FUNdamentals, AAW’s digital publication for brand spanking new and starting woodturners, and appointed John Kelsey as its new editor. The web periodical will proceed to assist newer turners construct foundational woodturning experience and expertise, serving as an authoritative, sensible, and pertinent information to studying the artwork and craft of woodturning. The editorship of American Woodturner, AAW’s journal, stays unchanged.


Kelsey will produce 4 points of Woodturning FUNdamentals throughout 2018. He succeeds Linda Ferber, who based Woodturning FUNdamentals and served as its editor since its inception. The transfer frees crucial AAW employees to focus on different initiatives and programming.


Kelsey, based mostly in Pennsylvania, is a journalist specializing in crafts and design. In his lengthy profession, he has been editor of Fantastic Woodworking journal, editor and writer at Cambium Press, and editorial director at Fox Chapel publishing. He has labored as a contract author, photographer, and editor since 1992, and is a founding member of the Lancaster Space Woodturners chapter of AAW.

214 - Power-Sculpted Contemplation Bench

Video - February 18, 2014 History Back in the early days of my woodworking, I was heavily influenced by a show called Woodworks. The host, David Marks, would frequently engage in a process that was very new to me at the time: power-sculpting (aka power carving). I was so excited by this process that I drove all the way up to Santa Rosa to learn the technique from the man himself. So what you see in this video is largely inspired by the work of David Marks.
